Week 80 - One for the books

One for the books ladies and gentlemen!!!

Monday was a pretty normal P-day.  We went shopping, cleaned a little, and then we went to the stake center to play sports for the rest of P-day with the Iowa City Zone!

Tuesday was pretty awesome.  We had a lesson with A and talked with him about what he was to do to prepare himself for baptism. Then later on that evening we traveled up to Cedar Rapids and taught M, the lesson went really great! We talked with her and taught her the 10 commandments.

Wednesday is when the craziness began. We had interviews with President and Sister Jensen and I found out that my companion Elder H would be going home.

Thursday I went on an exchange with Elder Porter, one of my Zone Leaders in North Liberty. We had a really good exchange and were led by the spirit.

Friday Elder H got ready and packed most of the day because in the evening we drove to Des Moines with our Zone Leaders and stayed the night in the assistants' home.

Saturday morning Elder H went to the airport; Elder Porter, Elder Broadbent and I drove back to Iowa City, then had a lesson with a member and his cousin A, who is now a new investigator. I taught the whole restoration to her in Spanish by myself since my two new comps don't speak Spanish.

Sunday we went to the 4th ward's sacrament then the 1st ward's three hour block and then two hours of meetings after the block.

My new companions are the Zone Leaders here in Iowa City and we are going to be working in a trio for the rest of the transfer, possibly.

Oh and also another crazy thing, I lived out of a suitcase 4 days this week.  I am definitely learning how to be diligent and effective with the time I have to work in my specific area.

I can't really put into words how hectic and crazy this week was, but it has been amazing to see how aware the Lord truly is of His servants

Week 79 - Hectic and full of surprises!

This week was hectic and full of surprises! I am so grateful for my mission and how the Lord has taught me to love change.

I got transferred again, and am back to arguably one of the best areas in the mission!
But before I talk about how much I love Iowa City I'll give a re-cap of my week:

Monday- got transfer calls :(

Tuesday- Walked and knocked most of the day trying to find those people prepared for the most important message they will ever hear.

Wednesday- Was P-day, I packed up pretty quickly; I am a pro by now, and said good-bye to those I have grown to love in Muscatine.

Thursday- We went to transfer meeting in IA City and I found out that I would be returning back to IC and be getting my 10th companion, Elder Hunter!

Friday- We had district meeting and got to know the district! Once again I am incredibly blessed to serve amazing elders and sisters!! In the district there are 4 sets of missionaries that cover 2 wards, the 2nd and the 4th ward.

Saturday- We taught a man whose name is A who now has a baptismal date for Feb 14th, and we also went up to Cedar Rapids to teach Margarita.  M is SOOOOO prepared.  We taught her about the Word of Wisdom with a member family and a recently returned missionary and the spirit was so powerful! She has a baptismal date as well for Feb 28th.

Sunday- Was crazy since we cover the Iowa City 4th ward and the Cedar Rapid 2nd ward, we had to translate sacrament meeting in the 4th ward and then drive up to Cedar Rapids there and translate there for 3 hours! But it is always better to be super busy!

All and all I am so happy to be back in IA city and am so excited to see what the Lord has in store for Elder Hunter and I as a companionship and also what he has in store for the IA city district!

I know the Lord places us where he needs us and where His children need us as well!

Week 78 - It's been fun in Muscatine...

.....But.....

We got transfer calls this morning and I will be transferred again after only 6 weeks and President let me know it will probably happen again this upcoming transfer! It is really interesting and I wonder why the Lord has me moving around so much, but I truly believe and know President Jensen has the keys to this mission and constantly receives revelation. I will continue to be district leader in my new area, and am super excited to continue to love and be a servant to those elders in sisters in the district.

This week I had such an amazing and priceless opportunity to go to the temple to see Tyler get his endowments out! Tyler is a young man who me and Elder J - one of my old companions - love SOOOOOOO much. He opened up his mission call as well on Sunday evening and guess which mission he will be serving in?!?!?!?!
California Irvine Mission!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so excited for him!!

I am sad to leave Muscatine so soon,
I am excited for what is ahead,
and
I have faith that the Lord will continue to guide me.

Week 77 - Icy and Snowy

The winter has really hit now!  Last week the seven day forecast was:

M- 30 degrees
T- 20 degrees with a brutal wind chill
W- 20 degrees
T-  15 degrees
F- 15 degrees
S- 20 degrees with snow
S-10 degrees

Then this week is supposed to be even colder.

Today- it is about 5 degrees and a snow storm is supposed to hit tonight

Tuesday- cold

Wednesday- in the negatives :)

This week I am going to re-cap the amazing things that happened, and leave out some of the week. So starting with

Tuesday.....
We had a great lesson with E about the priesthood and taught him that once he is baptized he can receive it and gain the wonderful blessings that come from the priesthood! He then came with us to a lesson. He taught a woman named M with us. She is the mother of a recent convert here, J. E was nervous at first, but when we asked him to testify of how the Book of Mormon has helped him he bore powerful testimony of it!
My jaw drops and his wife is speechless as E has completely changed and loves the gospel. E has also given us many people to go and teach, and continues to be amazing!!
The woman we taught that evening accepted a baptismal date for Feb.14th and is ready to study and prepare herself for that day!!

   Thursday..
We taught a man named J, he has a lot of respect for us and expressed his gratitude for our service we do for our Father in Heaven. He is very devoted to the church he goes to right now, which is great because as we continue to teach him, he can be a devoted member of the true church!

    Saturday...
We walked over 10 miles walking from appointment to appointment. It was very cold but the spirit warmed us as we speed walked around Muscatine. That evening we taught E about missionary work and he let us know that he loved teaching with us!! He saw the joy it brought to J and her mom as she committed to follow Jesus Christ more fully in her life!

We continue to be so blessed and have miracles poured upon us each and every day!

This week keep us in your prayers as we navigate the icy and snowy roads. It is a lot different than California :)
